The Times They Are A-changin'

For 3 years (and over 150 issues), I've written a weekly blog. Over the same time period, a lot of internet competition has been added. It's possible to spend the whole day reading email, Facebook, Twitter, favorite blogs, and the list goes on.

Realizing that my readers have limited time, I thought it might be easier if this blog was twice a month. One monthly blog will be the same as I've been writing; the other will be based on the progress of my art and explorations.

When I meet subscribers, they tell me how much they enjoy the articles on art, artists and art history. On the other hand, there's a lot more response when I write about the art I've been making. I think I've come up with a way to satisfy both. (This idea is not written in stone and if you have suggestions, I'd love to hear from you.)

Thanks to all my loyal readers. I appreciate you more than you know. R.

  1. I feel mixed about it. Sorry not to have it weekly, but understand why. Lenny

  2. I actually enjoy the ruminations about other artists and art news better.

  3. I appears you will be getting mixed comments, so maybe you could do a mix, but not necessarily on a predetermined schedule. It could depend on your current activities, or when you hit upon an interesting topic re other artists or art history. Surprise us! sz

  4. I simply don't know how you juggle all you have since you
started that weekly blog. It takes time and planning to come up with the interesting blogs you've given "us". Then there's your art - when DO you find time to work on it? Geez. So, I'm ok with bi-monthly blog. Di

  5. I am happy to stay in contact no matter which way you choose to go!
Your articles are always interesting, whether weekly, bimonthly, or monthly; but I also know first hand, just how hard it is to keep posting, doing the constant information exchanges of Facebook, tweeting, stumbling, tumblr'ing et al., and still keep shops updated so I am good with whatever decision you make. It is conceivable that a person could spend all their time blogging and updating without ever having a chance to work.
So be true to yourself, and your needs, and know that I'll be happy with whatever you choose. Britt

    1. Thanks, Britt. The Google Analytics has shown a disconcerting drop in readership. Most of the reading is for the archives. So, I figured that perhaps weekly piled too much more on folks.

  7. It works for me. I'll miss the opportunity to learn something new about art once a week but I think it's smart to do as you are. MAR
